Miguel M. Valente is a proud veteran and the son of immigrants who is running for office as a Democrat. He has been a resident of Sangamon County since 2022. Miguel decided to run for office to bring innovative change to the Sangamon County Board, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents in District 18. Growing up in the South Side of Chicago in an immigrant family from Mexico, Miguel understands the importance of addressing and advocating for the needs of low-income and minority groups.
Miguel aims to be a proactive elected official in Sangamon County's 18th District, ensuring he is accessible to all residents. If elected, he will represent the best interests of District 18 and engage with all residents, regardless of their political affiliations or socioeconomic status. Miguel was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago in an immigrant family from Guerrero, Mexico. He made history as the first person in his family to graduate from university and serve in the U.S. military. Miguel proudly served as a Water Treatment Specialist in the Illinois Army National Guard and was activated for both federal and state missions during his service. He graduated from Gurdon S. Hubbard High School in 2018 and is a proud alumnus of Chicago Public Schools. Miguel earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois Springfield in 2022, followed by a Master's in Public Administration in 2024.
